THACKER Robert "Bob" Gary. January 2, 1942 ~ June 9, 2012. Bob Thacker of Campbell River passed away at the age of 70. He is predeceased by his wife Jan and parents Bob and Ruth. He is survived by his children Donna (Don), Tracy and Mike; stepchildren Patti (Jim) and Diane (Land); brothers Ray, Ron (Joyce) and Dennis (Joan); grandchildren Kim (Maya), Nick, Corey, Emma, Amy, Sara and Ian; great grandchildren Fairah and Schuyler; and Bob's nephews. Bob lived most of his life in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Maple Ridge but spent his last four years in Campbell River at New Horizon's to be close to his children. Bob loved his family as well as his music: Johnny Cash and Elvis were among his favorites. He looked forward to his twice weekly casino days and all of the friends and acquaintances he made there.
He was known for his sarcastic and joking manner and wherever he went he was well liked and made friends. Bob was always singing and whistling. Bob's family would like to express a special thank you to his physician, Dr. Baerg and to the wonderful staff at New Horizon's who were so caring and compassionate with our dad, especially in his last days.
