March 2, 1944 - February 25, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roelof (Rudy) ten Brink on February 25, 2025. Born March 2, 1944, in Assen, The Netherlands to parents Jan ten Brink and Mina (Koerts) ten Brink. Rudy emigrated to Canada with his family in 1949, eventually to settle in BC. Rudy married Elaine Patterson in 1964, and they had 3 children, Ron, Dan and Cindy.
Rudy was a hard worker, spending most of his working life in the drywall industry and was a mentor to many both within the family and to others. Rudy was heavily involved in baseball and softball, first as a coach to Ron and Dan and later Cindy, as well as being an umpire and organizer for minor leagues. He was also a coach and player on many slo-pitch teams and was always happy to be giving his time to others on the ball field.
Rudy enjoyed spending time with his family, raising his own children as well as step-children Myla, Lisa and Justin. Later in life Rudy found love with Judy Armstrong, and they were married in 2014; he spent many happy years with her and her family as well.
Rudy is pre-deceased by his son Daniel John ten Brink and his wife Judy (Armstrong) ten Brink, and his beloved dogs Sheena and Riley, as well as brother-in-law Joe Loman and sister in law Rose White. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his children: Ron (Maureen) ten Brink and Cindy (John) Morton, as well as his 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; by his step-children Myla Walker, Lisa Kelly, and Justin Walker; by his step-daughters Shelli (Bob) Marshall and Sherri (John) Andrews; by his sisters Ida Loman, Pat (Lammert) Gjaltema, and Terry (Clark) Blanchard, and by his brothers John ten Brink and Ken (Sandra) ten Brink, and his many nieces and nephews and many close friends.
Rudy will always be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help anyone in need.
