March 26, 1928 - February 3, 2019
Ruth passed away peacefully at the age of 90. She leaves behind her loving son Philip, son-in-law, Christopher (Jeanette), grandson Wyatt, and great grandchildren Ethan, Julia and Isabella; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Ruth was born the youngest of 6 children in Melaval, Saskatchewan, and moved to the Loveridge dairy farm in Pitt Meadows, BC when she was 4 years old. She completed her senior matriculation in Haney (now known as Maple Ridge) and began her working career at the Bank of Commerce in New Westminster. She later worked at Canada Post until her retirement.
In 1948, she married her childhood sweetheart, Len Holland, and they settled in Haney where they remained for the rest of their lives. Ruth and Len loved to travel and explored Spain, Great Britain, Australia, and the Caribbean, to name a few. They cris-crossed Canada and the USA many times with Hawaii being their favourite destination. Ruth loved the sun and the beach.
Ruth was very active in the community, volunteering her time with the Woodsmen of the World, Girl Guiding and the Anglican Church. She will be remembered for her extraordinary needlework, love of gardening, delicious meals, kindness, and gracious hospitality. Ruth's enjoyment of family, especially her two grandsons and great-grandchildren, leave a legacy of cherished memories.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Len; parents Byron and Frances Loveridge; brothers Tom and George; sisters Lucy, Mary and Mabel; daughter Leona and grandson Daniel. She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 21299 River Road, Maple Ridge, at 1 pm on March 9, 2019.
