October 11, 1927 - March 28, 2020
Ruth Phillips (nee Baruch) passed away on March 28, 2020 at McKinney Creek Hospice House in Maple Ridge, B.C.
She was born October 11, 1927 in Lwow, Poland to Channa and Isreal Baruch. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1930. First in Timmins, Ontario and then Vancouver, B.C. She attended Model Elementary School and then King Edward High School in Vancouver, B.C. In 1946 she met and married Maran Phillips, together they had 7 children.
She was busy with family life, volunteering at school PTA, Boy Scout and Girl guide parent groups and plus being active with the Jewish Wizo Hadassah group where she served as President for many years. She enjoyed her travels to the USA, and Isreal to visit family. She loved singing karaoke and dancing at the Maple Ridge Legion Br. # 88. Singing along side her second partner Sam who predeceased and with the Silvertones Choir made her happy. Mom was a unique soul and kept everyone guessing.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Maran (1992) plus her parents and brothers (Joe and Gideon) in Israel. She is survived by children Eric (Vicki) Wilfred (Lillian), Loyd (Marie-Noelle), Sandy, Stanley (Perian), Roseanna (Norman (deceased 2019), Patrica (Philip), 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family in Canada, USA, Denmark and Israel.
No services are planned at this time due to the Covid 19 situation. Thank you's to her doctors, and the staff at the McKinney Creek "Hospice" House in Maple Ridge, B.C.
