Friendly, caring, compassionate, helpful, generous, intelligent, hardworking, and fun-loving are just a few adjectives to describe Sandy Lee Fraser (nee Mathieson) who passed away at home surrounded by the love of family and friends on January 30, 2010 after a recent and swift battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her mother, Shirley, and survived by her father, Sandy; devoted husband of 38 years, Art, children Kelly (Steve), Chris (Julie), and Jacki (Kent); brothers Scott and Stan (Tina), grandchildren Summer, Logan, Ashton, and Miles, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan on July 15, 1951 Sandy attended high school at Martin Collegiate, and later graduated from the Grey Nuns' School of Nursing Program in 1971. Her career took her to Maidstone and Regina, Saskatchewan, Maple Ridge, British Columbia, and St. Albert, Alberta. Sandy retired to Chilliwack, British Columbia in 2006 after 35 years of nursing. Sandy enjoyed traveling, reading, volunteering, camping, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. She was a truly loving soul, completely dedicated to helping others. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 6th at 1:00 pm at St. George's Anglican Church in Maple Ridge, 23500 Dewdney Trunk Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chilliwack Hospice Society in Sandy's memory.
