MIDDLETON, Sheila Elizabeth

Surrounded by love, Sheila passed away peacefully on January 13, 2010 one day short of her 70th birthday. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, Dick, her son Christopher, daughter Sophie, sister Deborah and granddaughter Juliana. Sheila was born in West Hallam, Derbyshire, England in 1940 and emigrated to Cumberland, BC in 1950 with her family. After graduating from UBC she was a high school English teacher for a number of years until she found her passion in life in the world of libraries. Receiving her MLS degree in 1987, she worked for many years for the Surrey Public Library specializing in Genealogy. Sheila will be remembered for her generosity, her gracious spirit and the abundance and delight of her culinary skills. She was a voracious reader with a questing intellect and eclectic interests. Sheila was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 23rd at 1:00 PM at St. Catherine's Anglican Church (Trinity United), 2211 Prairie Ave., Port Coquitlam. A reception will follow at 16609 Middleton Road, Pitt Meadows. Donations to the Surrey Public Library, your local library, St. Catherine's Church or the Sisterhood of St. John the Divine will be gratefully accepted in lieu of flowers.
