October 6, 1936 - September 7, 2020
Passed away peacefully September 7th, 2020 surrounded by love after a lengthy battle with dementia. Born October 6th 1936 in Brentford, England to George & Sarah Cox she began nurse's training at West Middlesex Hospital shortly after leaving school.
In 1963 she moved to Sussex, a place dear to her heart where she worked as a nurse at Worthing Hospital.
In 1980 Sylvia, her beloved husband Ken, and her two daughters immigrated to Montreal, Canada. Sylvia happily resumed her nursing at Villa Marguerite in Pierrefonds.
When her Ken passed away suddenly in 1987, Sylvia and her two daughters relocated to Maple Ridge. Sylvia loved B.C. and soon returned to nursing, first at Parkridge and later Holyrood Manor until she retired at 65.
Sylvia had a passion for travel, and with her good friends by her side, had many adventures as she traveled the world inspired by her love of the arts, history, and theatre. A strong independent woman, she raised her daughters and granddaughters to be the same.
Slightly silly, but always glamorous she will be remembered by all who knew her.
Predeceased by her husband Ken, Sylvia will be forever loved by her daughters Julia (Kevin) and Robyn (Sean), her grandchildren Sophie, Samantha, Emily, Spencer, and Hannah (her yum-yum) and her great-grandchildren Levi, Miles, and Winslow.
Sylvia will also be fondly remembered by her extended family and dearest friends.
A small intimate service celebrating a life well lived will be held at a later date. Thank you to the nursing staff at Maple Ridge Seniors Village who treated Mum the way she would have treated her residents; with love, compassion, and respect.
Rest in peace our Mumsie and loving Granny
