Verna Mary Craig (nee Jackson), of Maple Ridge, passed away at the age of 88 after many years living with dementia, and is predeceased by her brother-in-law, Uli Grossler, and nephew Brian Grossler. Verna is survived by her husband of 65 years, Grant Craig, and sister Elizabeth (Betty) Grossler of Lillooet. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Bev Craig (Sally Thicke) and son John Craig (Martina Craig) and her two grandchildren, whom she loved so very much, Curtis Craig (Jessica Craig) and Alyssa Craig (Jordan Turko); her niece and nephew Kim and Doug (Bev Grossler); and great nieces and nephews Celina, Jamie, Christopher and Devon.
Verna was born in Vancouver B.C. to Roland and Mary Jackson (nee Tough) and was filled with fond memories of her childhood in Victoria and Sidney B.C.. Verna graduated from Victoria High School in 1949 and married Grant Craig in 1954. They lived in Vancouver, Williams Lake, Port Moody and finally settled in Maple Ridge.
In addition to being a wonderful wife and mom, Verna was a dedicated, skilled Medical Office Assistant. She had a long career in the Vancouver office of Dr. Bill Irvine where she was loved and well respected by both the medical office staff and patients.
In addition to her time with her children and grandchildren, Verna enjoyed dancing and music, bowling, and gardening, reading, playing golf, and visiting with neighbours. She especially enjoyed her visits to Lillooet to visit family, passing a hot summer day on the porch with her sister Betty. Verna was also a kind friend to animals and enjoyed a life with many pets. Verna will be remembered for her loving heart, kind ways, dedication to family and friends, loyalty and hard work.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Maple Ridge Seniors Village, companion services, and friends who all added additional support and care for mom.
