Of Maple Ridge. Verne passed away peacefully on August 20th, 2010 with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris in 2009 and is survived by his son Bill (Sue); 2 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was born in Saskatchewan in 1921. His family moved to B.C. in the mid 1930’s to begin their new life which took him on many challenging ventures. Verne’s career began with farming and logging in Salmon Arm. He later became a salesman for B.C. tree fruits and eventually became a partner in a successful produce operation in Vancouver. He and his wife Doris had many wonderful times travelling. Verne had a very full and adventurous life. He could build anything, fix anything and always had time to tell a joke. He will be remembered as the man who always gave to others. Verne and his wife Doris spent their entire lives helping others. Thanks to the very caring staff of Greystone Manor for their kindness to him in the last two years. No service by request.
