HUNT, Wallace James (Wally)

The family, in sorrow, announce the passing of Wally Hunt on October 4th , 2007, at the age of 82.

Wally was born in Lancer, Saskatchewan on March 4th, 1925. He attended school in Lancer, then, at the age of 17, joined the army in 1942 and took his basic training in Regina. He was assigned to R.C.E.M.E. division. And, in 1944 was sent overseas where he served in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.

After discharge in 1946 he settled in Vancouver and was employed by the City, doing road grading and paving. He subsequently moved to Port Moody and became involved with independent paving companies and was a crew superintendent for CEWE for many years.

Wally participated in activities such as curling and golfing in Port Moody and Maple Ridge. He especially enjoyed his annual goose hunting trips to Lancer with his brother, his cousin and many old friends in the area.

Many people were touched by Wally’s warm personality and jolly demeanor.

He was predeceased by his parents, Sidney and Lillian Hunt, his sister Winnifred and his wife of 54 years, Wilhelmena (Minnie). He is survived by his two brothers Kenneth (Marie) Hunt of Aldergrove, B.C. and Orval (Marg) Hunt of Calgary, Alberta. He will be missed by his very special cousins Gordon (Marge) Hunt, Marguerite (Ken) Nicol, and Shirley (Gabriel) Pilloud as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

By Wally’s request there will be no funeral service.

The family wishes to thank the superb, caring staff of the George Derby Centre for their care and kindness to us all.
