$43,000 is considered a full-time salary

13 per cent, after 53 per cent, unacceptable

Editor, the News:

Re: Ridge council votes for raise, The News, July 29.).

What is sad is that Mayor Ernie Daykin and the others who voted for it do not realize that giving themselves a pay raise of 13%, two years after accepting a 53% raise, when most taxpayers have not seen a raise in years, is totally unacceptable.

Coun. Craig Speirs’s comment that the salary needs to be raised to attract qualified people is disgusting.  It is an insult to residents who see $43,000 as a full-time wage, not the supplementary one that it is suppose to be.
