Albion plan should be supportive

Editor, The News:

Re: ‘Albion could support a big-box mall’ (The News,  March 16).

The idea of developing the Albion flats is definitely worth  further investigation, as well as independent feasibility studies.

It would be shameful if money and resources were ploughed into a development that might not be profitable in the long-term.

I also feel that a public consultation should be organized, so that the people, who are likely to patronize this development, have their views heard before anything is started.

One thing that stands out, is the plan for a neighbourhood pub near 240th Street and Lougheed Highway. Their is already an excellent pub in this area. Why not incorporate existing businesses into the plan instead of designing it in isolation?

Two pubs so close makes no sense. We should be supporting those who have already invested in the area, not trying to make life harder for them.
