Re: Labels for GMO is preying public fear, (The News, Aug. 1).
This letter is very misleading.
GMO (genetically modified organisms) is a process whereby the very substance of various foods and other crops are changed in such a way that they become dangerous to the health of humans and animals.
I have before me a book called Genetic Roulette, subtitled The Documented Health Risks of Genetically Engineered Foods.
The author is Jeffery M. Smith, also author of the international bestseller, Seeds of Deception.
Some of the many dangers detailed are, sterility, infant mortality, allergies, organ defects, childhood diseases …the list goes on and on.
What Mr. Banov states is opinion, not fact.
Do not be misinformed on this one, it is of greatest importance.
