Government promised to consult on ‘fracking’

The government had promised not to go ahead with the method of extraction until the public, along with the native community were consulted.

Re: Export of natural gas resources to China (Letters, Jan. 6).

Sandra Robinson is obviously not aware of what is happening in Tumbler Ridge and the “fracking” they use to extract the natural gas.

Firstly, they are using the water of our pristine lakes, adding a mixture of toxins, which they inject into the ground there. The toxic water, as it rises, then contaminates the soil, the drinking water, and could make them and the animals very ill, not to speak of the amount of pristine water used in the process.

The government had promised not to go ahead with the method of extraction until the public, along with the native community were consulted.

That has never happened.

Shame, shame.
