LETTER: Maple Ridge man wants politicians to understand money doesn't grow on trees

NDP needs to rein in spending for the tough times ahead

Dear Editor,

Having watched the results of recent elections, (provincial and U.S.) I wanted to express my view's that the current NDP government take a careful approach to spending.

I've tried to relay this same message to my previous MLA who was voted out this past month, and I again want to say watch how you're spending the taxpayers' dollars.

Money does not grow on trees, and it needs to be treated with the respect it deserves. The year 2025 will be a difficult one for many has the economy is in a downturn, and with the possibility of the new American administration placing tariffs on many of our exports to the U.S., has Trump has promised.

So, our NDP government needs to be very prudent with its spending and prioritize only what absolutely needs doing.I think that the last election results should be a wake-up call for our premier and his new cabinet. But, will they listen?

Rein in our spending, and maybe you'll do better next time, my humble advice to you!

John E. McKenzie, Maple Ridge
