Dear Editor,
[Re: Surgery mishap leaves father in ICU, The News, Jan. 3]
This is such a tragic story but sadly, one of many.
I lost my husband unnecessarily at the hands of inattentive health-care workers at another hospital, and since then, I’ve heard numerous stories from individuals who have had similar experiences.
This has to stop.
Accidentally cutting a femoral artery is not acceptable and someone should be made accountable for this egregious mistake.
The hospital should be covering all the necessary expenses and loss of wages that this poor man is now facing but that won’t happen.
It’s a good thing we have a generous public that steps up to the plate in instances like this to ease the burden on these families.
