Letters: ‘Let us have a say’

Amalgamation always quickly dismissed.

Editor, The News:

I’ve lived in this community for many years, in both Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge. It has always amazed me that whenever discussion of amalgamation occurs that it is so quickly stifled by politicians in both communities.

I have had the pleasure of volunteering within the civic, sports and arts communities. I believe that with the exception of the powers that be that the normal citizen would appreciate the opportunity to participate in an informed discussion on the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities afforded by the possible amalgamation of Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge.

It is now the time the community to have its say.
