Letters: More money, less garbage service

City of Pitt Meadows has dictated that we only receive pickup every two weeks for one can.

Re: Garbage pickup in Ridge trashed (The News, July 29).

City wide garbage pickup in Ridge? Don’t do it. As a resident of Pitt Meadows for the past 24 years, we have used both private and then went to city allocated curbside pickup.

Firstly, we are paying more for the municipal arranged service on our taxes. We receive very poor service and are only permitted one small can, or pay $5 for a second one.

So more money, less service.

Now for the past two years, the City of Pitt Meadows has dictated that we only receive pickup every two weeks for one can.  Not cool, since we have a special needs child and the garbage, even when triple bagging diapers, is a nightmare in the months of April to October.

We now have all sorts of species – rats, skunks and raccoons – vying for our garbage. Please stay in control of your service. Pay less for more and keep it private.

We can’t, and it’s terrible.
