Letters: Women advance

Nicole Read won the mayoral election because she was the only woman in the race?

Mayor Nicole Read.

Re: Read tops campaign spending (The News, Feb. 25)

Wow. Nicole Read won the mayoral election because she was the only woman in the race?  So says unsuccessful contender Mike Morden, anyway.

It couldn’t possibly have been because she has unique and desirable skills, experiences, passions and insights that might have surpassed Morden’s own?

That’s quite and insult to Read, Morden’s fellow candidates and the intelligence of the voting public.

I had thought society was a little more advanced than that. Maybe the only people who have really advanced are women.
