Old pigs at new trough, again

I am so upset with this horrendous ugly piece of tubing and laminated glass.

Panels of coloured glass are installed as part of new public art project called Balance at 224th Street and Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge.

Re: Artist doesn’t like new public art (The News, Oct. 12).

In response to the money doled out for a terrible form of ‘art’ erected at Westminster Savings, as a retired pensioner on a fixed income, I am so upset with this horrendous ugly piece of tubing and laminated glass. I cannot believe that our city came up with $20,000 when things are so tight fiscally. What is going through their minds when they take it upon themselves to support such garbage?

When I came out of the mall one day and watched the installation of this monstrosity, I was saying to myself, “I hope our tax dollars are not involved”.

But now I read in our local paper that the district is involved.  I remember the slogans during our last municipal elections, when the catch phrase was ‘fiscal responsibility.’ Oh well, just new pigs at the old trough, again.
