Re: Pitt Meadows loses community champion (The News, July 31).

Having known Sandy Wakeling since his days as a community relations manager and constituency assistant to Ken Stewart, I am saddened by his passing.

As a cancer survivor, I have empathy for the challenges that he faced during the past several months, and as a fellow communications professional, who spent a decade working for the B.C. Liberal Party, I know that he will be missed by many – Mr. Stewart, Mike de Jong, Mike Macdonald, and Premier Christy Clark.

He was a professional in every sense, and he has gone far too soon.
