Settle teacher dispute with civility

Letter writer says to have teachers continually attacked by the government is not acceptable.

Editor, The News:

Minister, please cease treating our teachers with contempt and disrespect.

You cannot justify your government’s actions with respect to the Supreme Court rulings.

Perhaps those of you in the legislature would like a 10 per cent cut in pay, as well.

Most of our teachers are dedicated, caring, sincere. To have this group of professionals continually attacked by your government is not acceptable.

Many teachers give countless hours to assisting their students in many ways, from providing extra help, coaching, graduations, field trips and so on.

By imposing a 45 minute timeline for teachers to be in their schools before and after school is making it impossible for teachers to be involved with these activities.  You should be ashamed for causing such angst.

There is a growing swell of discontent in the population over the way your government is dealing with the dispute with the BCTF.

I hope your government will listen to the electorate and settle this dispute with civility, respect, and fairness.
