Re: Councillor hires councillor (The News, July 31).
When an MLA openly hires his campaign manager to work for him, and the campaign manager continues to draw a salary as councilor for the district, and taxpayers are footing the bill for both positions, and neither side sees anything wrong with that, that is disgusting.
When I was young and my father was involved in municipal politics, he always used to tell me not to bother even submitting my resumé for a job, as even the appearance of nepotism or conflict reflected poorly on the town.
Apparently that’s not an issue for Coun. Cheryl Ashlie or MLA Doug Bing.
For shame.
