TransLink has gone above and beyond

TransLink responds to criticism about a sound barrier that is being torn down in Pitt Meadows

Editor, The News:

Re: GE Bridge sound wall to come down (The News, Feb. 15).

This is a 100-year project, and TransLink has fully anticipated the need to cover contingencies that arise during the project lifespan.

The cost of the new wall is covered from funds already allocated to the bridge, and does not require any new funds.

Repeated measurements have demonstrated that the original design of the bridge meets all specifications for noise abatement.

This information has been fully shared with the community.

TransLink has worked closely with the community to listen to concerns.

The actions that TransLink has taken since the bridge opened, including further dampening of the noise and building the higher wall, are all in the interest of being a good neighbour.

These measures are above and beyond what TransLink was required to do.
