‘What do I know about GMOs?’

Let me share with you some of my students’ thoughts.

Editor, The News:

In science, we have been studying genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

Let me share with you some of my students’ thoughts.

“Many people have different opinions on GMOs. Some people think it’s a great invention. Others think it’s a horrible idea and a plan for disaster. I think that it is a plan for disaster. Should we really mutate plants and animals that we eat? Is it healthy for the environment and us? Did you know that genetically modified potatoes cause impaired reproduction in lady bugs? Come to think of it, GMOs should be banned. This is only the start of the problems we will face if we continue with this dark science of genetically modified organisms. But what do I know, I’m just a 12-year-old kid.”

Another student states: “GMOs should not exist – it is wrong and deadly. We shouldn’t be modifying plants for our consumption. I think we should stop with GMOs and let nature roll on its own.”

One of my students asks: “What is your opinion on genetically modified organisms? In my backyard I have a garden and I have been growing food there. I would not want to eat GMOs. It is not right to modify any of nature’s creations.”

Personally, I agree with my students’ opinions.
