Basketball briefs: Titans quiet the Thunder

The SRT junior girls basketball team dominated the court against their rival Thomas Haney Thunder in their league home opener, with an impressive 49-9 win.

The leading scorers included Katelyn Erhardsen with 16 points and Jen Lord with 14.

SRT’s girls continued their winning streak Tuesday against Pitt Meadows.  The Titans were victorious with a score of 43-19 in front of their home crowd.

The ladies held their ground with tough team defence.

The Titans now sit 3-0 in league play, with their toughest match-up coming next week against an always strong MRSS Ramblers team.  The Titans battle Ridge on Thursday the 24th at SRT.

 

Ramblers girls beat Tweedsmuir

The Ramblers senior girls basketball team beat Lord Tweedsmuir (Surrey) by a score of 73-33 on Tuesday at Maple Ridge secondary.

Junior national team player Kolbie Orum led the sixth-ranked Ramblers with 23 points, nine rebounds and five steals.

Kirby Marchand had 14 points and four steals, while Jane Grisley and Devan Cousins scored 12 points each.

 

Severinski wins in return to the Valley

Pitt Meadows Marauders basketball standout Trevor Severinski enjoyed a triumphant return to the Fraser Valley with his new team, the Saskatchewan Huskies.

In Canada West action, the Huskies beat the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades 90-82 on Friday night, and Severinski played 22 minutes, putting up eight points and getting three rebounds.

On Saturday they beat the Trinity Western University Spartans 92-85. Severinski’s coach continued to show confidence in the rookie forward, as he was given 21 minutes of floor time, and scored two points.

Severinski said he was looking forward to playing against his former Pitt teammate Matt Blackaby, who is a rookie with the Spartans this year. Unfortunately, with a tight score and games in the CIS being so critical, Blackaby did not see get any playing time.
