The Maple Ridge Burrards took on the New Westminister Salmonbellies on Thursday night at Queens Park Arena and lost 10-6.
The Salmonbellies are the top team in the Western Lacrosse Association, with a record of 11-3-2, and the Burrards still sit second with a record of 9-6-1.
Dan Taylor led with a goal and two assists, Riley Loewen scored twice. Other Burrards scorers were Matt Symes, Colton Porter and Luke Gillespie.
The game came at the end of a brutal stretch in the schedule, when the Burrards played six games in 13 nights – a compressed schedule considering the teams play 18 games over parts of four months. But this year the Burrards have seen long stretches with limited action, followed by a stretch like they just came through.
The Burrards’ last regular season home game will be on Sunday at 6:45 p.m. at Planet Ice when they again host the first-place Salmonbellies.
The last regular season game will be Wednesday, Aug. 3 at the Langley Events Centre when they finish up the schedule against the last-place Thunder.
