Two Ridge Meadows Burrards teams medalled as the B.C. Lacrosse Association held the provincial championships in the Under-12, U-14 and U-16 divisions over the weekend at the University of Victoria.
The event featured 21 boys teams from across Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. The Burrards won bronze in the U-12 division, and silver at U-14.
Burrards U-12 standout Austin Cook won the Warrior Sports Canada Most Valuable Player award.
Players from each team were also selected for Warrior Fair Play Awards, and Burrards Matthew Sinclair won at the U-12 level, and Haden Harty at the U-14 tier.
The U-14 team had two lopsided early wins, 15-1 over Poco, followed by 14-3 over Victoria. In their third game they faced one of the two Coquitlam teams in their division, and lost 10-7. That record was good for second in the pool, and they faced another Coquitlam team, who were first in their pool, in a the semi-final. They beat the Adanacs squad for the first time this season by a convincing 12-6 score.
In the final they faced the same Coquitlam team from their pool, and lost 7-1 to take the silver medal.
