The Ridge Meadows Minor Lacrosse Associations (RMMLA) hosted the 2023 Barn Burner tournament last weekend, with more than 20 teams from all across southern B.C. travelling to Maple Ridge to compete in one of three divisions.

The A1 division saw the Ridge Meadows Burrards U17 A1 team lose their first game against Langley, but then come back with two wins against Saanich/VELA and New Westminster.

The local boys then went undefeated in the finals, getting revenge against the Langley team with a 6-2 victory that earned them the gold.

In the A2 division, the Ridge Meadows U17 A2 team got off to a great start, winning all three of their games to send them to the playoffs. However, their winning streak soon came to an end as they lost their opening playoff match against Pentiction by a score of 7-4.

The Burrards then found themselves in the bronze medal match against Coquitlam, where they worked their way to a 7-2 victory.

Unfortunately, the local team in the B division wasn’t able to bring home a medal of their own, winning just two of their four games and getting stopped short of grabbing a playoff spot.
