Maple Ridge’s Allison Campbell led the Maryland Terrapins to their best ever season finish, narrowly missing qualifying for the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Water Polo Championships.

The Terrapins came up just one goal short in their bid for a berth in the NCAA Championship at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Campbell had two goals for the Terps in the final, but Princeton scored twice late to pull away for a 6-5 victory Sunday evening in the 2012 Collegiate Water Polo Association Eastern Championship game.

Despite the loss, the Terps still ended with their best-ever finish in the CWPA Eastern Championship, after finishing third last season.

Campbell was named to the CWPA Eastern Championship All-Tournament First Team.

Campbell led the Terps offence with five-point effort in the semi-final game against top-seeded Michigan, ensuring a 9-8 upset win.

Prior to the tournament, Campbell was named to the All-CWPA Western Division first team for the second straight year. Campbell was the 2011 CWPA Southern Division Player of the Year.

Campbell, a junior at the University of Maryland, was the Terrapin’s top offensive threat again this season, leading the team in goals (55), points (78), and steals (70) in 26 games this season.
