The Ridge Meadows Flames had their seven-game winning streak snapped on Friday night, when they lost 5-2 to the White Rock Whalers.

The Maple Ridge Junior Bs got back in the win column on Saturday night with a 3-2 overtime win against the Mission City Outlaws.

The Whalers made the score 3-0 before the game was 15 minutes old. They have posted recent wins over the tough Delta Ice Hawks and the top team in the Pacific Junior Hockey League, the North Van Wolf Pack.

Ridge’s Ryan Denney scored his league leading 40th goal in his 37th game, while Jack Foster also scored to continue an impressive first junior hockey campaign.

On Saturday night in Mission, it was Craig Schouten scoring the game winner in overtime, for his second goal and third point of the game.

The shot counter had the Flames outgunning the hometown team 61-18, and the game’s first star was Mission netminder Brian Dale.

Nicholas Amsler also had two assists in the game, and he and linemate Denney are tied atop the league scoring racing with 66 points apiece. They are tied wit Delta’s Dalton MacGillivray.

Newly acquired goaltender Daniel Zuvic got his first win in net for his hometown Flames, and defenceman Ryan Suzukovich had two assists.

The Flames will be playing two games this weekend at Cam Neely Arena, taking on the Richmond Sockeyes on Friday night at 7:30 p.m., then a rematch with Mission on Sunday at 8:45 p.m.
