Greens all gold in leading Racers at speed skating provincials

No less than five members of the Ridge Meadows Racers earned gold medals at the B.C. short track championships.

No less than five members of the Ridge Meadows Racers earned gold medals for their overall performance at the B.C. short track speed skating championships earlier this month in Kamloops, including all three Green siblings.

Janie Green had a perfect run in Division 10,  T2T age 14 female, finishing first in the 200-metre, 400m, 1,500m and 3,000m A finals, giving her a total of 4,000 points for the gold.

Annabelle Green took gold in Division 6, T2T age 12 female, sweeping the 200m, 400m, and 3,000m finals and finishing third in the 1,500m

In the Division 1, L2TB age 9-10 male, Sammy Green finished first in the 200m and 400m, and second in the 1,200m and 2,000m A finals, earning enough points to win overall gold.

Rohann Chassay took overall bronze in the same division after placing second in the 400m, third in the 200m and 2,000m, and fourth in 1,200m.

Jared Bolland won overall gold in Division 5, T2T age 12 male. He was first in the 400m and 1,500m, second in 200m and third in 3,000m A finals.

Adam Abbott placed fifth overall in the same division, finishing third in the 400m, fourth in the 1,500m and 3,000m A finals, and first in the 200m C final.

In Division 4, T2T age 11 female, Catalina Shupe captured overall silver, winning the 200m and 400m A finals and placing second in 1,500m and third in 3,000m.

Marshall Shupe won gold in Division 9, T2T age 14 male, despite a penalty in the 3,000m final. He swept the 200m, 400, and 1,500m finals.

Tim Song eared silver in the same division. He came second in the 400m, 1,500m and 3,000m A finals, and won the 200m C final after falling in a previous heat.

Tahlon Flamma came fifth overall in the division. He won the 3,000m A final, and finished second in the 200m and 400m B finals.

All the T2T age category skaters qualified to Canada West Championships, held this past weekend.
