Haney Neptunes host swim meet in Maple Ridge, place third

The club will be competing again in Aldergrove June 10 and 11

The Haney Neptunes hosted their own swim meet over the weekend and in a combined effort placed third.

With a combined team score of 399 points at the Haney Neptunes Invitational, the club was beat only by the Abbotsford Whalers Aquatic with 488 points and the Mission Marlins with 678 points.

For the Neptunes, Cole Brekke placed first in the boys division one 50 freestyle event with a time of 45.80, and first in the 100 IM with a time of 1:57.58, followed by teammate Brady Deboer with a time of 2:23.86. Cole also came first in the 50 butterfly with a time of 1:05.60, first in the 50 backstroke with a time of 51.39, and first in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 58.69, followed by Brady with a time of 1:04.21.

Jordyn Munroe placed first in the girls division two 50 freestyle with a time of 35.75, followed by Brooklynn Brekke with a time of 36.16.

Brooklynn also placed first in the girls division two 50 butterfly with a time of 40.48 and first in the 100 IM with a time of 1:26.77, followed by Jordyn Munroe with a time of 1:32.41. And Brooklynn placed first in the 50 backstroke with a time of 37.65, also followed by Jordyn with a time of 42.18. And in the 50 breaststroke Brooklynn again in first with a time of 45.47, closely followed by Jordyn at 46.11.

Maggie Escaravage placed first in the girls “0” category one 50 freestyle with a time of 41.19, followed by Flora-May Lawrence with a time of 49.80. Escaravage also placed first in the 100 IM, and first in the 50 butterfly with a time of 1:01.54. Lawrence placed second in the 50 backstroke with a time of 54.52.

Blakely Ellis came firsts in the girls six and under 25 breaststroke, first in the 50 freestyle with 1:21.03, and second in 25 freestyle with a time of 33.68 and Cullen Mineer came first in the boys six and under 25 freestyle with a time of 34.89.

In the 100 IM, Breslin Nilsson came second in the boys division two with a time of 1:47.23 and in the girls division three, Sofia Maria Povazan came second with a time of 1:25.98.

Cruz Costa came second in the boys division four 200 IM with a time of 3:07.42 and Vincent Costa came second in the boys division six 200 IM. Vincent also took second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:17.22.

The mixed 200 medley relay saw the division two team come first with a time of 3:11.43 and division four in first with a time of 2:40.56.

Julia Longmuir came first in the girls division five 50 butterfly with a time of 33.35 and second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:18.89.

Josiah Hestermann came first in the boys division six 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:18.52, followed by Vincent Costa at 1:18.59.

The team is looking forward to the Aldergrove Splash into Summer Swim Meet this weekend June 10 and 11.
