Ose Obetoh has been a leader with the MRCS Hornets and will now move up to college ball.

The Maple Ridge Christian Hornets had a season that ended with a Greater Vancouver Independent School Sports Association championship banner, and an MVP award for Ose Obetoh for the second straight year.

The Grade 12 player is now weighing offers from Canadian universities.

Obetoh played on the Basketball B.C. provincial team in the 2015 summer season and on the BlueStar Basketball team during the summer of 2016.

During the recent championship game, when she received the tournament MVP award, she scored 35 of the team’s 50 points.

Maple Ridge Christain School was eliminated from the Fraser Valley League after a disappointing loss to Abbotsford Christian School in a semi-final game the week before.

However, the team came back the next week to win the GVISSA League banner for the second year in a row, with a 50-41 win over Khalsa Secondary School.

“I really wanted to make it to provincials,” said Obetoh. “We all worked hard, and I think that we did the best we could. It was a hard loss to ACS, but I’m so glad we could come back from that and win another banner.”
