LeBlanc returns to World Cup

Maple Ridge’s Karina LeBlanc is headed to the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany as a goaltender for Team Canada, making this her fourth trip to the world’s most competitive tournament.

LeBlanc has spent the past four months training in Italy with Team Canada after electing not to play in the Women’s Professional Soccer league.

LeBlanc and Team Canada face the host German side this Sunday, June 26, at 9 a.m. More than 75,000 fans are expected to fill Berlin’s Olympiastadion in the opening match of the 2011 World Cup.
