Ridge Meadows Burrards peewee lacrosse players Aidan Murphy and Dylan McCormick followed up a successful weekend at the B.C. Cup in Kelowna recently by being named to Team B.C.

The Maple Ridge products will represent the province at the 2012 EG Dopp Peewee National Championships in Whitby, Ont., Aug. 4 to 12.

Both players were part of Team Fraser Valley that won the B.C. Cup, along with Gavin Bruce, Matthew Marty and Kyle Jansson of Maple Ridge. Locals Justin Cloete and Jorrin Lenton also played in the Kelowna tournament, which serves as a tryout for Team B.C.’s  national selection process.

The Team B.C. lacrosse program consists of five box lacrosse squads, with boys playing in the peewee, bantam and midget divisions. The girls compete in the  bantam and midget age category.

B.C. will also send three field lacrosse squads to the nationals.

The Ladies Under 19 team will have home-field advantage when it plays in Victoria Aug. 1 to 5. The men’s U16 and Men’s U19 teams will travel to Oshawa, Ont. to play in the nationals from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.
