The Maple Ridge Burrards offence could only muster five goals as they lost to the New Westminster Salmonbellies on the road Thursday night, eliminating the Burrards from the 2011 Western Lacrosse Association playoffs, four games to one.

Burrards goalie Drew Dickie made 31 saves, but was outdone at the other end of the box by 'Bellies netminder Tyler Richards, who turned away 40 of 45 shots he faced as New West won 8-5.

The Burrards took an early 3-0 lead in the first period when the Salmonbellies scored in the dying seconds of the period to cut the lead to two.

It was all New Westminster in the middle frame, as they scored four unanswered goals to pull ahead of the Burrards 5-3.

The Burrards managed to tie the game with a pair of goals in the latter half of the period, but again New West scored another late goal to take the momentum and a one-goal lead into the dressing room for the second intermission.

The Salmonbellies shut out the Burrards in the third period while scoring a pair of goals to put the game out of reach for Maple Ridge.

Rookie forward Riley Loewen had a hat trick to lead the Burrards offence. Curtis Dickson had a goal and three assists, while Aaron Pascas had a goal and an assist. Joel Dalgarno picked up two assists, while Dickie had one.
