The Maple Ridge Burrards suffered their first loss of the new Western Lacrosse Association campaign, as they were beaten 8-5 by the Nanaimo Timbermen on Sunday night at Cam Neely Arena.
The Burrards led 3-1 late in the first period, but then gave up six unanswered goals, and never made up the deficit.
Burrard Ryan Jones had a goal and two assists, and was named the second star of the game. He now has five goals and eight points to lead the Burrards in scoring after three games.

Dylan McIntosh scored twice, Garret Winter had a goal and an assist, and Peytin Wallace also scored.
That loss puts the Burrards in a three-way tie for third place in the seven-team league, with a record of 2-1.
The Langley Thunder are in first place in the standings, with a 3-1 record, and former Burrard Curtis Dickson leads the team and the league in scoring with 24 points.
The Burrards are back in action on Thursday, June 8 when they travel to Queen’s Park Arena to take on the New Westminster Salmonbellies (2-1).
Then Ridge will host the winless Burnaby Lakers (0-3) on Sunday, June 11 at Cam Neely Arena. Game time is 7 p.m.
