The Haney Neptunes were one of more than a dozen B.C. groups at the recent Langley Flippers Swim Club (LFSC) Invitational, with the local team bringing home dozens of medals from the event.

Mandy Whiddington, LFSC board member and volunteer, said that this event involved hundreds of swimmers, with some as young as six years old.

“We have 575 athletes coming from 13 clubs from a variety of regions,” said Whiddington.

“This is the first event of the season where we have finals, so the top eight swimmers in each division get to swim a final race which prepares them for regionals and provincials.”

The Haney Neptunes swimmers pulled off some impressive performances, earning a combined total of 1,436 points across all categories, putting them in fourth place amongst all teams.

The male swimmers did particularly well, with the Neptunes athletes in the boys divisions finishing in third place, just behind Abbotsford Whalers Aquatic and Mission Marlins.
