Two members of the Maple Ridge Secondary School wrestling team are off to the Canadian Juvenile Wrestling Championships in Fredericton next month.

Brodie McKenzie and Colton Koopman both placed second at the B.C. High School Championships in Penticton in February, earning them a trip to the national tournament.

McKenzie is currently training for the tournament at Simon Fraser University and has cut weight to compete in a lower weight class.

"I've already beaten the B.C., Saskatchewan, Ontario and Alberta [champions] in a previous tournament, so I think I'm going to do pretty well," said a confident McKenzie.

Koopman, meanwhile, is currently taking part in the RCMP youth academy camp in Chilliwack.

The pair helped the Ramblers wrestling team to a third place finish overall at the provincial finals.
