Maple Ridge's Allison Campbell rules in the pool

Campbell is the reigning CWPA Southern Division Player of the Year, and this is her third weekly award of the season

Maple Ridge’s Allison Campbell was named the Collegiate Water Polo Association’s player of the week after leading 13th-ranked University of Maryland Terrapins to three wins on their spring break road trip to California.

Wearing a face mask to protect a small bone fracture in her face, Campbell was dominant on both ends of the pool over the last week. She posted 11 goals, two assists and 12 steals in Maryland’s three wins. Campbell led the team with four goals and four steals in Thursday’s 17-8 win over Somona State, and sparked a comeback 10-8 victory over the Pacific Tigers on Saturday two late goals and five steals. Campbell then went on to match a career high with five goals in Sunday’s 18-6 romp over Santa Clara. The Terps broke the game open with six straight goals, including three from Campbell, over an eight-minute stretch in the first half.

Campbell is the reigning CWPA Southern Division Player of the Year, and this is her third weekly award of the season. She also won the CWPA Rookie of the Year in 2010.
