High school basketball is in full swing, with the senior boys teams all getting into league play, and the Pitt Meadows Marauders hosting their annual tournament this weekend.

The Marauders were to begin action on noon Thursday against Abbotsford Traditional, and the finals will be played on Saturday.

The Samuel Robertson Technical Titans are also in the tournament at Pitt Meadows, and opened their tourney on Thursday against Okanagan Mission.

The Marauders were in Courtenay last weekend for the Vanier Towhees Tournament. They started with a strong 68-55 win over the John Barsby Bulldogs, but lost their second game to the Clayton Heights Night Riders of Surrey in a tough 79-77 loss.

They won their next two, beating Victoria’s Glenlyon Norfolk Gryphons, who are ranked second at the single A level, by a score of 72-59. They finished up with a 73-45 win over Vancouver’s Eric Hamber.

Guildford Park of Surrey won the tournament.

The Maple Ridge secondary Ramblers were at the Chancellor Tournament, where they suffered losses to North Delta Huskies 84-48 – the top ranked team in Triple A – and the McMath Wildcats of Richmond 71-62, but beat the McNair Marlins of Richmond 55-50.

The Ramblers will be at the Victoria Police Tournament this weekend, and their next regular season home game will be against the Robert Bateman Timberwolves of Abbotsford on Jan. 24 at 8 p.m.
