Neptunes earn gold at B.C. swim championships

Megan Neale of the Haney Neptunes earned a gold medal in 50-metre butterfly at the provincial championships this past weekend in Kamloops.

Megan Neale of the Haney Neptunes earned a gold medal in 50-metre butterfly and a silver in 100m fly at the provincial championships this past weekend in Kamloops with times putting her eighth all-time in the  B.C. Summer Swimming Association Top 60 hall of fame.

Neale finished the Division 6 girls’ 50m fly in 30.03 seconds. She also came 10th in 50m freestyle.

The Neptunes Div. 2 boys’ 200m freestyle relay team also won gold at the provincials. Members of that team include Declan Lee Chin, Jack Hayhoe, Jordan Longmuir and Joel Blanco.

Chin, Blanco, Hayhoe and Alexander Preocanin came second in the 200m medley relay, as well as in the 200m regional medley.

Individually, Blanco earned silver in 50m and 100m free, and bronze in 50m fly. He also came fifth in 100m medley.

In Div. 3 boys,  Ethan Benoit came third in 100m medley.

In Div. 1 girls, Mina Edwards, Isabella Senevirante, Mackenzy Clark and Vanessa McNabb came second in 200m relay.

Edwards, Senevirante, McNabb and Stephanie Schneider came third in another 200m relay.

In Div. 5 girls, Ava Morrant came second in 50m free and 100m fly, as well as third in 100m back and fourth in 100m free.

Katarina Preocanin came second in 100m back and third in 200m medley, then ninth in 100m breast stroke.

Morrant and Preocanin, along with Yuri Cowie and Taylen Lee Chin came third in 200m free relay.

In water polo, the Neptunes earned silver in the under-12 division and bronze in u-16. The u-14 team came fourth.
