A hockey game that will feature NHL players from Maple Ridge headlining teams of local prospects and pros is coming up next Saturday.

Victor Bartley, the Nashville Predators defenceman, will lead one team.

Brad Hunt, who broke into three games as an offensive defenceman with the Edmonton Oilers this year, will be the other.

The Bartley roster is “Team Bartley,” as it also includes his brother, Mitch, who played for the WHL Vancouver Giants. There will be numerous players with experience ranging from Junior B, to NCAA to the ECHL.

Hunt’s team is Team Payne, and is led by Ben Payne, who had a BCHL career, played college hockey, and now plays pro in France.

Brett Sonne, who played in the AHL and Europe, and Kurt Sonne, who played junior B, will also be on the roster.

The game is billed as the first annual Charity Hockey Classic, and will be played by local minor hockey alumni.

It will benefit Crohn’s and Colitis Disease, and the executive director from Crohn’s Colitis Canada will drop the puck.

The game will be played on June 21 at Planet Ice, 6:15 p.m.

Admission will be by donation, and fans can get autographs and pictures with the players after the game.
