After seeing one much talked about prospect last month, fans of the Vancouver Canucks can see another this Saturday at Langley Events Centre.

Jett Woo, a second-round pick of the Canucks in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, is in town with the Moose Jaw Warriors to face the Vancouver Giants in Western Hockey League action.

This will be Woo’s second trip to LEC in the past three months, as he was part of Team WHL which played Team Russia as part of the CIBC Canada Russia Series in November.

Quinn Hughes, the Canucks top pick (and seventh overall) in 2018 was at LEC in December for the Lordco Auto Parts Road to the World Juniors, registering a pair of assists in his team’s victory over the Czech Republic.

And while Hughes – who is in his sophomore season with the University of Michigan – is the much talked about Canucks prospect, Woo is also having himself quite the WHL season.

The 18-year-old six-foot, 203-pound right-shot defenceman from Winnipeg is known for his physical presence, but has shown an offensive touch this season, already surpassing his career-high in points. Entering Moose Jaw’s game against Vancouver, Woo has eight goals (he scored nine last season) and 29 assists and is averaging a point-per-game. Woo’s 37 points have him seventh among all WHL blue-liners.

Moose Jaw sits third in the East Division at 23-11-5-2 heading into their game on Friday night in Victoria against the Royals. Other notables on the roster include Pittsburgh Penguins draft pick Justin Almeida (11th in league scoring with 14 goals and 56 points in 37 games) and Montreal Canadiens draft pick Josh Brook (second among WHL defencemen with nine goals and 44 points).

Saturday’s game has a 7 p.m. puck drop.
