Pitt Meadows trounces Centennial in AAA Fraser Valley North semifinal

The Pitt Meadows Marauders Air Force are a perfect 2-0 in AAA Fraser Valley North playoff action after beating league rivals, the Centennial Centaurs of Coquitlam, 81-54 Thursday night at home.

The win guarantees Pitt Meadows of a berth in the Fraser Valley championships, and puts them through to the league final tonight (Friday) against the No. 5-ranked team in the province, the Terry Fox Ravens.

The two teams met last week in the final game of the regular season, with Pitt coming out on top 71-68 in overtime on the road.

This time around, Pitt will be playing on their home court at Pitt Meadows Secondary School. Game time is 8:15 p.m.

The Maple Ridge Ramblers didn't fare as well in their opening game of the AAA Fraser Valley East playoffs, as they were beat by a single point by Sardis secondary Thursday night, 56-55. With the loss, the best Maple Ridge can hope

The Ramblers next face Chilliwack secondary this afternoon (Friday) at 3 p.m. at Walnut Grove Secondary School in Langley.

In AA Fraser Valley action, Samuel Robertson Technical Secondary School were knocked out Thursday night, 76-52, by Abbotsford Christian. The loss means SRT won't qualify for the AA provincial championships  March 7 to 10 in Kamloops.

The Fraser Valley A tournament gets underway this Wednesday at Trinity Western University, with Meadowridge School taking on Unity Christian at 3 p.m., and Maple Ridge Christian facing Langley Christrian at 8:15 p.m.
