The Pitt Meadows Marauders beat Centennial 63-43 on Tuesday night, as regular season play winds down.
They played Pinetree last night, and will face the Terry Fox Ravens tonight in Coquitlam in their last regular season game. It could well be a game for first place.
The Fraser Valley North championships will be played out Feb. 12-14, and the schedule of games for Pitt has yet to be detemined.
Pitt went 1-1 last week. They travelled to Heritage Woods in Poco on Wednesday night and squandered a 10-point lead in the first half with a lot of unlikely turnovers.
After regaining the 10-point lead in the third quarter, Pitt again threw the ball to their swarming opponents. In all, 29 turnovers with only 17 gains for the Marauders spelled the difference in a 75-72 loss to Heritage Woods.
Pitt played with some injuries and illness. Guard Elijah Lapurga, who had returned from his ankle injury, injured his shoulder and head on Monday night at practice and was not his usual self in the game. Centre Graham Smith was back from his illness having lost 10 pounds and still feeling the effects of the flu. Despite this, Graham still scored 22 and had 12 rebounds. Jordan Murley scored 11 and Elijah Lapurga and Hakeem Wewala had 10 apiece.
On Friday, Pitt hosted the province’s third-ranked Gleneagle Talons.
The Marauders set up Smith for 35 points. Seven other Marauders contributed on the scoreboard with Elijah Lapurga hitting for nine points.
Heritage Woods lost to unheralded Port Moody. That, combined with Fox loss to Gleneagle, leaves the FV North up for grabs.
