The Ridge Meadows French Toast Mafia, after falling 5-2 in the quarter-finals of the double-knockout playoffs, won three straight games to capture the minor division ball hockey title and qualify for the provincials.

Jared Paul allowed just one goal in the final three games, as the Mafia outscored opponents 7-1 during that stretch.

“We couldn’t have done it without him” coach Jon Silcox said of Paul.

Silcox said the Mafia players worked hard all season and earned their spot at the provincials.

“We focused mainly on dealing with adversity in any game and used that as the building block to our success.”

Mafia members: Paul, Damian Richards, Nicholas Dela Cruz, Robbie Klus, Jeffrey Sunshine, Marcus Hutchinson, Sean McCloskey, Dylan Kong, Sean Roy, Trent Dey, Aiden Donnely, Mckenzie Begg, Vlad Vinca, Riley Johnson, Dylan Green, and Devon Taylor. Silcox, Justin Lavia, and Eric Lilley coach the team.

The provincials are this weekend in Victoria. Three other Ridge teams also qualified: the Earthquakes, peanut division; Earthquakes, pup; Crushers, peewee.
