The Ridge Meadows Flames split their two weekend home games, as they blasted the Richmond Sockeyes 5-1 on Friday night, then dropped a 2-1 decision to the Mission City Outlaws on Sunday.

Hometown boy Daniel Zuvic was the game’s first star on Friday, as the recently repatriated goaltender stopped 27 of 28 shots to get his second win as a Flame. Including his time with the White Rock Whalers this year, he now has a tidy record of 12 wins and seven losses through Pacific Junior Hockey League action, with 2.99 goals against average and 0.907 save percentage.

Jordan Kujala scored twice – the tying goal and the game winner – and was name the second star of the game. Also from Maple Ridge, the veteran forward now has 12 goals and 21 points in 31 games.

Rookie forward Zachary Urquhart had a goal and an assist, while Cohen Muc and Nicholas Amsler also scored to give their team all kinds of insurance.

Against Mission on Sunday, it was Pitt Meadows’ own Kyle Sackman stealing the win for the Outlaws, as the rookie forward got the game winner against his home team. He now has eight goals and 14 points in 17 games in Junior B, and appears to have hit his stride, with four goals in six games in the new year.

Zack Lagrange had the only goal for the Flames. Sam Rose had the assist, giving the defenceman three points on the weekend.

The Flames have five games left before the playoffs begin. They are at Burnaby Winter Club on Wednesday to take on the Grandview Steelers, and on Friday will host the Surrey Knights at Cam Neely Arena. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
