Maple Ridge’s Michael Stovman and Brayden Slaughter have both been selected to represent B.C. Minor Baseball at the 2012 Continental Amateur Baseball Association (CABA) World Series qualifying tournament next month.
The two local boys will be part of 15-person team selected from the top peewee-aged players in the province to compete in the elite U-12 tournament.
Slaughter plays for the Ridge Meadows Royals peewee AAA summer team, while Stovman plays for the Coquitlam-Moody peewee AAA team.
B.C. Minor Baseball coaches and directors spent three weeks traveling the province last month to put together the best peewee team in B.C.
Also getting the invite to the team were Rhys Cratty, Dawson Gray, Dylan Kirby, Derek Krall, Niko Millas, Wesley Moore, Elliot Morrow, Devin Patterson, Nicolas Phelan, Sam Sheomaker, Cade Smith, Jason Willow, and Michael Yang.
If the team is successful in winning in it division at the qualifying tournament, it will earn a berth at CABA World Series
The CABA World Series has featured teams from every state, along with Puerto Rico, Panama, Guam, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and the Dominican Republic.
The tournament takes place outside of Toledo, Ohio, and runs July 23 to 28.
